      religious persecution.

      Source: LDS Ancestral File No. 11QK-6HT. Also indicates death at
      Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands which would imply a move back
      to the north from Ghent where several children were baptized at St. Baaf
      Cathedral.

      call # 68-27449 Pieter Winne lvd in Bethlehem, 2 mi south of
      Albany. In 1677 bought 1/2 of Constapel's Island from Volkert Janse
      Douw. Same yr bought a sawmill in Bethlehem from Nicolaas van
      Renselaer. 1667 he and w made joint will. Estate valued in 1697 at
      860 pieces of eight.
      He was of the West Indies when 1st ch born, but lvd Bethlehem
      during most of his adult life. Known as Pieter the Fleming. Rarely
      appeared in court rec. Appt'd Magistrate 1682-1684. He and w
      members of Church of Jesus Christ at Albany from 1683 on. Auditor
      of ch rec in 1690. He from Ghent in Flanders, 1650; settled at Bethlehem,
      NY.
      This inf from Pearson, Jonathan "Contributions to the Genealogies of
      the Ancient Co of Albany p 151. Ancestral lines by Boyer,--has different
      order of ch births. Winne Fam manuscript, rec'd from Robert H. Secrist.
