  NAME: The name "William Edward Conder" was a name submitted via Ancestral File, although the names Edward and Edwin were utilized by him through his life; Need to identify the source of the name "William Edward." MIGRATION: Edward was a member of the Edward Hunter Company of 260 individuals and 67 wagons. The trek began its journey from the outfitting post at Kanesville, Iowa (present day Council Bluffs). This company was organized at 12-mile creek near the Missouri River. It was the first Perpetual Emigrating Fund Company and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley 12th through 13th of October 1850. Matheson, Matheson, Beverly M., ([online] bevmatheson # comcast.net (change # for @)). While still an infant, Edward's mother, Deborah Matthews, died and his father remarried. When the LDS missionaries came to his home town the family was convinced of the truthfulness of their message and embraced the gospel. In the year 1844, Edward and the Pierce family set sail for America aboard the Yankee square-rigger, Norfolk. They set sail from Liverpool on September 19th, 1844. The ship arrived in New Orleans on November 11, 1844. From there they took a river steamer to St. Louis, Missouri. This is where they made their home until the Saints were called on the trek across the plains to Utah. While in St. Louis Edward married Helen Pierce. Edward, his wife, and two sons left Kanesville on July 4, 1850 with the Edward Hunter Company, crossing the plains and arriving in Utah on October 13, 1850.... His occupation was mostly farming and freighting. Provided a document entitled 'Joseph Shelley Conder Ancestors.'
