      Abraham Marshall, b 1669, at Gratton, Derbyshire, England, of parents belonging to the Episcopal Church, when about 16 years of age he became a member of the Society of Friends, in which he was afterwards a highly-esteemed minister. About 1700 he came to Darby, Pennsylvania, where he married 1mo 17, 1702-3, Mary, dau of James Hunt, of Kingessing, who came from Kent, in England. Soon after this they settled on the Brandywine, in what is now West Bradford Twp, Chester Co, where he purchased large tracts of land, and where he died 12th mo 17, 1767, and she on 3mo 4, 1769.

      The second generation of this family is represented by the following genealogy of the children of Abraham and Mary Hunt Marshall; 1. Samuel, b 11mo 27, 1704; m Sarah Ashmead 2.
