      Catherine Lee Roberts
Sunday morning, Jan 7, 2007, our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Catherine Lee Roberts passed into eternity. She fought courageously and cheerfully, but at age 82 finally surcame to the disease of breast cancer. Only six months before, her dear husband Eldon passed away.
Catherine was born on August 24, 1924 , the first child of TaBitha and Raymond Lee. She grew up and American Fork during the great depression, learning how to make do and make the best of every situation. After graduation from A F High, on October 28, 1942 she was married to Eldon Roberts in the Salt Lake Temple. Only two months later Eldon was sent off to fight in WW 2. Catherine held down the home front by working at Geneva. After Eldon returned, they had two children, Larry Eldon and Connie Lee. When Connie was five Catherine went to work at J C Pennys in accounting, first in the AF store and then in the new University Mall store. Catherine loved the challenge of accounting and balancing the books almost as much as she enjoyed shopping for shoes. She could account for every last cent at Pennys and was a bit disappointed when her children could only balance her check book to within four cents. She took great pride in her children and her job. Catherine was busy but found time to always be there for her family and friends. There was never an activity or need they had that she overlooked. Somehow, she always managed to be there with her great love and support. Her quick smile, twinkling eyes and cheerful personality will sorely be missed by us all.
Catherine is survived by her sister Barbara Lee Carter (Roy) and children, Larry (Becky) and Connie. She has five grandsons, six great grandchildren, 1 niece and 3 nephews.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 AM on Thursday, January 11 at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary in American Fork. The funeral will be held there at 11:00. Following the services she will be buried in the American Fork Cemetery.
"Tomorrow will be better", Catherine. "Onward and upward!"

Eldon and Katherine were the epic people who live quietly next door. Eldon fought in WWII - he was drafted and fought his way from Australia to Japan over the course of three years. You'd never peg him as the military type. He was very friendly and loved to visit and joke around. He liked nice cars and a perfect lawn. Although his farm work interrupted school a lot in his youth, he was a very bright and creative person with a great work ethic. He worked for Geneva for many years. He was absolutely enamored with Catherine. He would have made a horrible widower - it's actually a blessing he died shortly after she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Catherine was that perfect Mom we all wish we could be... You know, the one with everything neatly tucked away in perfect order - able to serve three hot meals a day for years, all while working a job during the time the kids were at school... Never cross, always neatly made up. Perfect hostess... Birthday cards were NEVER late! No bad habits at all! She was basically superwoman. They took joy in the simple things in life and lived frugally and wisely.
