Photograph, Hockessin Meeting [21 Mar 2006]

Photograph of Hockessin Meeting at Hockessin, Delaware. A meeting was held in the area as early as 1730, but meetings were not regularly established until 1737. The name was derived from a nearby Indian village. Prominent Quaker members included those of the Baldwin, Cox, and Dixon families. A meetinghouse was built in 1738 and later enlarged in 1745.
